Question: How do I set up Pre-Interview questions?

Before Sam offers a worker a slot on your calendar, they can first be asked a set of screening questions associated with the search.

These pre-interview questions help you gather additional information that may not already exist in the worker’s profile or filter out candidates who don’t meet your minimum requirements. Many of our customers refer to these as dealbreakers.

📌 Note: These are meant to be Yes or No questions

Managing your screening questions:

Step 1: Navigate to the Candidate view

Click the Screening Tab In the top-right corner, you’ll see a tab labeled "Screening." Click this to open the question settings for your selected search.

Step 2: Customize the Questions:

This is where you can add, remove, or edit the screening questions Sam will ask candidates before scheduling interviews. Use these questions to quickly qualify candidates based on your most important criteria (e.g., Valid DL, years of experience, availability).

Step 3: Save Your Changes:

Once you're happy with the questions, make sure to save your changes. Sam will automatically start using these in the pre-interview process.

Step 4: Setting rules for each question:

For every question you add, you can:

  • Specify the desired answer

  • Mark it as required

📌 Note: If a required question is answered incorrectly, Sam will let the worker know they won’t be able to move forward in the process and no interview will be scheduled.

Step 5: Viewing screening progress and results:

Once you request an interview, you’ll see a card appear on the Interviews page with an orange tint. This means Sam is actively trying to connect with the worker. If the worker confirms interest, the card will update to show that pre-interview screening is underway.

You can also control the order of the questions using drag-and-drop. Just grab the handle on the left to rearrange them however you like.

After screening is complete, Sam will work to get the interview scheduled.

You’ll see the candidate’s answers in two places:

  • In the interview card’s pocket, just click the card to open it

  • In the worker’s full profile, make sure the correct search is selected from the dropdown on the right-hand side

📌 Note: If a worker appears on your calendar, it means they successfully answered all screening questions.
